How to Find and Defeat Devastators in Helldivers 2

During your tenure as a Helldiver, you’ll receive all manner of Personal Orders, which include objectives such as defeating Devastators in Helldivers 2. These Automatons prove rather challenging, especially when playing solo, so here’s a helping hand to give you the upper edge!

What is a Devastator in Helldivers 2?

First and foremost, it’s essential to know your enemy. A Devastator in Helldivers 2 is a type of Automaton. This medium-sized mechanoid brings forth incredible stopping power and armor to help turn the tide of battle in the machines’ favor. They often come equipped with rocket launchers, a shield, or the usual laser weaponry.

Thankfully, despite their size and presence on the battlefield, which may often instill fear in the untrained Cadets, you can topple a Devastator relatively easily.

Where to Find Devastators in Helldivers 2

To find Devastators in Helldivers 2, travel to the Automaton side of the Galaxy Map, such as the Xzar Sector. For additional context, it’s the red zone on your liberation map to the left-hand side of Super Earth.

You’ll find Devastators within these sectors regardless of which planet you choose. They spawn early, beginning at the Trivial Difficulty and continuing through Helldive.

How to Defeat Devastators

To defeat Devastators in Helldivers 2, we recommend bringing along an armor-piercing weapon, a hard-hitting shotgun, like the SG-552 Breaker, which is often called the best shotgun in the game, or a useful Stratagem like the Railgun.

If you do not yet have access to such weaponry, fret not. You can still beat a Devastator with early-game weapons if you aim for their weak point. Like most other Automatons, the weak point is the red glowing spot. In this case, the Devastator’s weak spots are its eyes and head. It’s a relatively small target, and the battlefield is chaotic. Take a moment to line up the perfect shot, and even with the starting rifle, you can topple this mech.
