Hideo Kojima Says Pandemic Nearly Stopped Death Stranding 2 From Happening

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach fans are on cloud nine as the game has finally been released today; however, Hideo Kojima has just revealed that there were times during the pandemic when he thought the game would not be released.

Death Stranding 2 players have already begun their new adventure across Australia, sharing their experiences and discoveries along the way. Some have pointed out a special Birthday cutscene that Kojima has planned for players, and another has pointed out ‘Nintendo‘ appearing in the game’s credits roll. However, we may never have seen these discoveries if the game hadn’t been released today.

As soon as Death Stranding 2 went live globally, Hideo Kojima posted on X (formerly Twitter) to share some of his thoughts on this momentous occasion. Kojima started off by revealing that “it’s raining today” where he is, and that’s maybe because he regards himself as the “Rain Guy”. He expressed his hope that everyone enjoys the game and shared his thoughts on the development of DS2 during the pandemic.

Hideo Kojima shared that “during the pandemic,” there were moments when he genuinely feared they might never complete Death Stranding 2. Reflecting on the journey, he found it “overwhelming” to reach the launch day finally. Fortunately, “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” has received universal critical acclaim, with a Metacritic score of 90.
