Escape from Tarkov ‘Hardcore Wipe’ Revealed for July

On social media, Battlestate Games’ Nikita Buyanov has posted an image teasing a ‘Hardcore Wipe’ for Escape from Tarkov, coming in July. This has prompted players worldwide to surmise what ‘hardcore’ means in this respect, with many believing that, for one thing, it would equal an entire wipe without Flea access.

The image was later backed up by a full roadmap from Battlestate Games.

This could be the final wipe before Escape from Tarkov releases into a 1.0 state.

One Last Time?

In Escape from Tarkov, ‘hardcore wipe’ means one thing, and that’s that the game is about to become much more challenging. The ‘hardcore’ concept in Tarkov is an unofficial thing that was devised by players years ago, and it contains a few key criteria.

For instance, when playing ‘hardcore’, users can’t run Scav characters, they can’t insure their items, and they can’t use Traders or the Flea Market. If a hardcore wipe came around and forced these elements on players, it could make or break the game – for a few months, at least.

Unfortunately, Nikita neglected to provide a specific date for the next Tarkov wipe, just giving the tease of the hardcore wipe mechanic without expanding on anything.

It won’t be long until we hear more, though. We’re mere days away from July, and if there’s one thing Battlestate Games is good at, it’s revealing what it’s working on internally.

Most recently, Tarkov was in the news here on Insider Gaming after it was discovered that an anti-cheat firm wants to rid the entire game of cheaters.

Do you think a hardcore wipe in Tarkov would be a good thing, or an utter nightmare? Let me know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming forum.
