Gray Zone Warfare, the open-world tactical MMOFPS, has received a major update as the team at MADFINGER unveils a whopping 1.5 million copies sold since April 2024. The update, which comes in the form of patch 0.4.5.0, delivers a PvP-focused overhaul to the game, along with several community-requested tweaks.
Higher-stakes PvP has been promised following the arrival of 0.4.5.0, and to further celebrate this new update and milestone, MADFINGER is hosting a major sale on Steam and a Twitch Drops campaign.
Gray Zone Warfare Continues to Evolve
Gray Zone Warfare turned a corner when the 0.4 update arrived at the end of March. It was a monumental transformation for the game that brought about the biggest overhaul since the title dropped into early access in April 2024.
In my review, I showered the game in much-deserved praise:
Gray Zone Warfare represents a stunning example of what happens when a dedicated, devoted developer expresses nothing but passion for the core product they have created. It’s without a doubt a best-in-class title that has untold amounts of potential in store, and after the 0.4 update, it’s an open-world tactical shooter that simply must be experienced to be believed.
Now, Gray Zone Warfare has climbed to 1.5 million sales, and to celebrate that milestone, MADFINGER has released the 0.4.5.0 update.
This update mostly targets the game’s PvP-focused ecosystem, which is one of the driving reasons for venturing into the wild and exploring the vast world of Lamang.
First, Conflict Zones have been expanded, stretching to 400 meters from the previous 300 meters. The team explained this change in a press release:
This change prevents attacking players from having their approximate position revealed when a PvP encounter begins, allowing the attacking side to maintain their advantage.
Respawn logic has been reworked so that players engaging in PvP and winning their fights have more time to secure the area and loot their kills before those they eliminated make their way back into the Conflict Zone.
The recapture cooldown on Combat Outposts has been altered too, so that factions must wait 30 minutes before they can recapture it, which prevents rapid flip-flopping between faction occupation.
In terms of community-requested features, Task Sharing has now been added, encouraging folks to squad up and work together to complete their side missions.
Additionally, the 0.4.5.0 patch adds support for DLSS 4.5 and introduces fixes and improvements across all gameplay systems.
