XBOX Announces Another Price Increase for Consoles

A new announcement confirms that the prices of XBOX consoles will increase by $100 and more, and the 2TB model is being sunset.

Back in September 2025, Xbox announced a price increase for its consoles, citing “changes in the macroeconomic environment” as the reason. The increase varied, with prices rising by $20 for lower-end models and up to $70 for higher-end models. Notably, the latest price hike is more than double the previous increase.

XBOX Console Prices Increase by $100 and Above

An announcement on the XBOX Wire reveals that the company will increase the prices of its consoles, with the 512GB models rising by $100 and the 1TB models by $150. This follows a previous price increase that occurred in late 2025. The company stated that “console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5 times” and is anticipating another doubling by fall 2027. The price changes will take effect on August 1, 2026. Below are the new prices for the Xbox consoles:

  • Series X 1TB with Disk will be $799.99
  • Series X 1TB Digital will be $749.99
  • Series S 1TB will be $599.99
  • Series S 512GB will be $499.99

After the previous price increase, the console maker tried to work with suppliers to secure better deals, but was unable to do so. The blog post also explained that the entire consumer electronics industry is struggling with components, but the effect is especially hard on consoles, as they are “typically not sold at a profit, but instead for less than they cost to make.”

XBOX has also thought of different programs that players can take advantage of to make payments easier:

  • Buy Now Pay Later is one option players can use when purchasing hardware through the Microsoft Store, where you can “break up your payment into predictable short-term, interest-free installments.”
  • Interest-Free Financing is another way players can purchase XBOX hardware through Amazon and benefit from “0% APR financing for up to 12 months.”
  • Then you have Previously Played Consoles, where XBOX is working with retailers to provide these used consoles at lower prices, and players can also trade in or upgrade their consoles with participating retail partners for cash or store credit.
  • Lastly, XBOX is selling Certified Refurbished Consoles on the Microsoft Store, and players can also get up to $100 off on their purchase.
