Grand Theft Auto 5 Keeps Selling Millions Every Quarter

The sky is blue, water is wet, and Rockstar Games has sold even more copies of GTA 5.

In its latest quarterly earnings release, Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold nearly 230 million copies. This is an increase from its last report, which noted the game had sold up to 225 million copies. This means the game is selling approximately 5 million games per quarter.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has been available since 2013 and has been released across three console generations and PC. Its successor, GTA 6, is slated for release on November 19, a date that has been reaffirmed twice recently following multiple delays.

Additionally, the earnings report touted further details on the success of the GTA franchise, including that GTA 5 generated $1 billion in retail sales faster than any entertainment release in history. It was also touted that the franchise as a whole has sold over 470 million units, calling it one of the most successful and iconic brands in all of entertainment.
