God of War Laufey ‘Could’ Release as Soon as Early 2027, It’s Claimed

A new GOW game starring Faye from the reboot games wasn’t the biggest shock in the world when it was announced during the Sony State of Play Showcase for June 2026. But it would be a surprise if it were released in the next few months, which is apparently a possibility.

The rumored God of War spin-off game was revealed during the Sony State of Play Showcase in June 2026.

As expected, Faye is the main character, temporarily taking over our strong, bearded awarrior—as Santa Monica has said God of War isn’t done with Kratos—and all eyes are on the release date.

God of War Laufey Targeting First Half of 2027?

Now, I must reinforce that this is a claim, and one that ‘could change,’ which is expected as you never know anymore. Release dates are being shifted left, right, and center, even for the biggest games on the market.

However, reliable industry insider NateTheHate was asked on June 13 about God of War Laufey’s release date:

‘Last I heard the target was first half 2027. Could change but that was a hope at one point.’

It’s a bit of a double-edged sword, then, but it does support Jason Schrier’s claim that God of War Laufey will ‘Definitely’ release before 2028.

Rumors suggest Santa Monica has been developing Laufey for some time, so it’s more than reasonable to assume it’s far along in the development cycle.

Whether it releases in early 2027 is one thing, but it seems extremely likely that we’ll get GOW Laufey in 2027. This should keep us all ticking over until the massive God of War original trilogy remake that is also in the works.

If you missed it, check out the first gameplay footage of God of War Laufey.
