Blood of Dawnwalker Will Be ‘Similar to Classic Fallout Games’

At first blush, that’s not a headline that makes much sense. After all, The Blood of Dawnwalker is an ambitious and brutal third-person vampire simulator with serious Witcher vibes, slated to be released this September. How could it possibly be similar to the classic run of Fallout games, a spate of isometric, turn-based post-apocalyptic RPG titles?

In a recent interview, the CEO of Rebel Wolves, the studio behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, one of this year’s most anticipated games, explained the shaping of this title, including post-launch plans.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Starts a Saga

In a recent interview with PAP Biznes, the CEO at Rebel Wolves, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, sat down to talk about all things The Blood of Dawnwalker. This AAA third-person action title is set to drop on September 3rd, bringing about a game that’s steeped in mystery, innovation, and gruesome vampire-backed combat sequences.

If you’ve seen The Blood of Dawnwalker and think it looks like a Witcher game, you’re not far from the truth. Tomaszkiewicz worked at CDPR, most notably as the director on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in 2015, and several of the studio’s employees came from that side of the industry.

In the interview, the Rebel Wolves CEO tried to describe the narrative concept in The Blood of Dawnwalker, relying on a series that comes out of left field for this comparison:

‘The Blood of Dawnwalker’ will be primarily a narrative sandbox, similar to the classic ‘Fallout’ games. Our goal is for the player to be able to decide which path they want to take to reach the end of the game.

(Thanks to PushSquare for the spot)

It’s nothing like Fallout in terms of the overarching gameplay elements, visual palette, or setting, but it’s like Fallout in that it has a branching narrative that can be driven by the player at all times.

The hope from Rebel Wolves is that The Blood of Dawnwalker, which has secured a spot on more than 1.5 million wishlists, does well enough at launch that it secures the studio’s financial future, allowing them to expand on the saga that’s waiting to be explored.

There could even be a spate of free DLCs released for The Blood of Dawnwalker after the game hits the market in September, all being well.

Everything is shaping up quite nicely for The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it stands firm as one of this year’s most promising games.
