Ghost of Yotei Shows Off New Firearms Combat in New Trailer

Ghost of Yotei showed off new gameplay today featuring a new class of weapons: firearms. The action title, a sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, went gold on Thursday, a whole month-plus before its October 2nd release. Before many get to play the title, more gameplay has come out to enjoy, this time surrounding guns.

In weeks past, we’ve seen a majority of protagonist Atsu’s arsenal, like the Yari and Kusarigama. Given the sequel takes place 329 years after Tsushima, a sole katana isn’t going to cut it (pun intended). Now, we get a look at one new to the series: firearms.

Atsu Unleashes Bullet Time in New Firearm-Centric Ghost of Yotei Gameplay

In the gameplay, shown above, we get to see firearms in action in Ghost of Yotei. As we can see, they are quite deadly, killing many enemies in one blow. However, it doesn’t seem very stealth-like, as the blast is loud and alerts all the guards. In addition, loading the gun takes a while, so you’d need to stun enemies and use the time to reload. Still, it’s a surefire solution to take down a remaining enemy or call them to your presence.

The new title sees Atsu, a vengeful mercenary, in the lead. After witnessing her family’s murder at the hands of the Yotei Six, she seeks retribution for them. Sucker Punch’s last title, Ghost of Tsushima, won dozens of awards upon release in 2020. If Ghost of Yotei can live up to fans’ expectations, we could see the same for it.
