Ahead of Tokyo Game Show (TGS), SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku announced that the studio will have a big showcase for it. While details are unknown as to what will be there, past events do give some hints.
Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) has had quite the success recently, thanks to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. While it didn’t take off in the West until a few years ago, a new entry has been a common occurrence. This year, we had the launch of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which did quite well. No new game has been announced yet, so, hopefully, the new TGS event will change that.
New RGG Summit Set For September 24th, 2025
A day before festivities at TGS 2025 begin, SEGA will host a new RGG Summit at 12 pm JST. To view the event in your time zone, click here. Following it will be a RGG Direct, which will dive deeper into the announcements. As for what will be announced, no details were given. However, as Ryu Ga Gotoku has a few projects in the works, we may know some.
One of the studio’s biggest upcoming projects is Stranger Than Heaven. Taking the gameplay of Yakuza with next-gen graphics, the game looks to take players on a crazy journey through different decades in Japan. We don’t know much about the story otuside of the two trailers, but it’s likely we’ll learn more soon. Another title is Project Virtua Fighter, which got a cool gameplay segment shown at EVO 2025.
As to speculation, we could see the next Yakuza/Like a Dragon game announced there. Last year, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was revealed, with years prior having Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Like a Dragon: Ishin!. Many suspect Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3, is next in line, but it’s up in the air.

Virtua Fighter 6 tease before TGS? They honestly need to remake the PSP spin-off games and Shenmue just partner with Yu Suzuki to remake Shenmue 1-3 and help him make 4 and 5.
They should not only have RGG and Shenmue guests in Virtua Fighter 6 they should get Baki guests too since Sega makes the anime. Tekken flopped and fumbled it take it from them. Other guests from Last Bronx and Fighting Vipers will probably be here too
