The Coalition and XBOX Game Studios revealed the October release date for Gears of War E-Day at the XBOX Games Showcase 2026.
Regarding the release of Gears of War: E-Day, there has been considerable confusion about whether the game would be available on PlayStation 5. According to the latest announcement, it appears that a PS5 release is not on the cards as it is an XBOX console exclusive. However, the game will launch soon on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Gears of War: E-Day Releases on (insert date)
The Coalition provided players with a brand-new gameplay trailer for Gears of War: E-Day at the XBOX Games Showcase. Towards the end, they announced the release date for the upcoming title on October 6, 2026. Gears E-Day pre-orders go live today, right after the showcase. The title will also be available Day One on Game Pass
The trailer showcased extensive gameplay, featuring Marcus fighting numerous monsters, armed only with makeshift weapons he found along the way and without any protective gear. The city lay in ruins, with derailed trains scattered around and a horde of monsters emerging from the ground, some wielding their own weapons. Additionally, we saw a massive claw-like figure erupting from the earth.
About Gears of War E-Day
For those unaware, the reason there’s so much hype for the upcoming installment, Gears of War: E-Day, is that it arrives as a prequel, set 14 years before Gears of War. Popular characters Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago make an appearance again, this time returning home to face a new threat: the Locust Horde. The Locust Horde is a subterranean monster that is laying siege to humanity itself.
