Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree has confirmed Henry Cavill remains on board with the Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe, ending any concerns about a departure.
Cavill is a Warhammer superfan and has been heavily tied to the franchise’s upcoming movie exploits, though a lack of news in that regard has resulted in worries that the Superman actor may no longer be part of the project.
However, there’s no need to be concerned, as Cavill’s ongoing involvement has been confirmed, alongside the reveal of who will be penning the script.
Henry Cavill Still on Board With Warhammer Cinematic Universe
In a financial report, via IGN, Rountree stated that Henry Cavill remains involved as he has “been for some time,” though there are no further details on what his involvement amounts to.
Additionally, it was confirmed that Mike Flannigan has been brought on board and “should soon be moving on to script,” which may drop a hint about the genre that the Warhammer cinematic universe will fit into.
Flannigan is best known for his works in the horror genre, with the likes of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass, while he’s also working on the upcoming Prime Video series Carrie and wrote the first draft of the upcoming DC Clayface movie.
His involvement with Carrie means that Flannigan is partnering with Amazon once again for the Warhammer movie, though it could still be quite some time until more concrete details are shared.
Finally, it was also confirmed that Games Workshop is close to completing an episode for Season 2 of Amazon’s Secret Level, following the Warhammer 40,000 episode in Season 1.
A major difference this time around is that the episode is set in the Age of Sigmar universe, so it won’t follow Titus’ adventures like the Season 1 episode did.
