Former EA, Microsoft & Ubisoft Devs Open New Studio, Making ‘Project-S’

A new indie studio from the United Kingdom, chaotic works, is working on a new multiplayer action game called Project-S.

Talking about studios working on games, we have seen claims that NetherRealm Studios is working on the third installment of Injustice, and that Avalanche Studios is also working on a new open-world title. However, today we aren’t looking at these AAA games; instead, a new indie studio is working on its debut multiplayer title.

Chaotic Works Reveals Debut Game, Codenamed Project-S

chaotic works was founded in 2023 by Karl Francis and Lawrence Grabowsi, who have been working on their debut game with limited savings and financial support from UK angel investors. The team now consists of 15 people, including contributors from games like Fallout, Forza Horizon, Splinter Cell, Sniper Elite, and Far Cry, as well as studios such as Microsoft, Ubisoft, Rebellion, EA, Team17, and Unity.

The new studio is focusing on multiplayer titles for PC and consoles. With Project-S, the developers aim to achieve “an unprecedented level of dynamism and hostility that will challenge players both mechanically and socially.” The devs also wish to explore different ways to feature “thrilling adrenaline-fueled action” along with “social dynamics in large, humbling worlds.” Check out their core principles for the upcoming game below:

  • First is to push boundaries to blend action with social dynamics.
  • To create worlds that feature unmatched intensity and unpredictability, which challenge players socially and mechanically.
  • For players to make bonds and rivalries amidst the chaos.
  • The last principle is optimization to ensure that games run on the most basic systems, including portable consoles.

In other news, Mellow’s Indie Launchpad is a new platform that helps ease the burden of indie studios. Additionally, here’s everything announced at April 2026’s ID@Xbox event. • These guys get it! I love the core principals. Sounds like they are going to make something good, and its these kind of studios that have been coming up outta no where and putting out an Expedition 33 or something of that quality. Guys with years of expe4rience, that are sick of the chain of command getting so long that no one can ever make a damn decision or get something cleared without someone shooting it down. That’s why games only indie or AA games are the only ones to push the game mechanics to new levels or just new ideas in general.
