DOOM: The Dark Ages dropped midway through May, emerging to an overwhelmingly popular reception and scoring solid reviews across the board. The game did quite well on streaming platforms, and in a report published by Streams Charts, it was revealed that it was the fifth most popular game amongst viewers in Q2.
That report also highlighted that one of the game’s most-watched streamers surfaced in the form of an unlikely individual – a former adult film star turned author, content creator, and director.
Grey Does DOOM
Streams Charts’ recent report breaks down the top ten games of Q2 2025, where streaming platforms are concerned. It revealed that Elden Ring: Nightreign dominated the market by a substantial amount, bringing in 28.9 million hours watched across multiple platforms. That’s the second-best performance for a ‘new game’ this year, behind Monster Hunter Wilds.
The other end of the scale was home to Blue Prince, the indie puzzler that turned heads on account of it being unconventional and somewhat mysterious. It pulled in great reviews, and many dubbed it 2025’s Balatro. It scored 3.95 million watch hours in Q2.
In the middle of the road sat DOOM: The Dark Ages, with 10.5 million hours watched. That’s not what caught my eye, even though it’s a great achievement for the game. What I noticed was Streams Charts’ mention of Sasha Grey, a former adult film star turned streamer, who became one of the most popular channels for DOOM: The Dark Ages in Q2.
The data on Streams Charts shows that Sasha Grey, who simply goes by ‘sashagrey’ on Twitch, is still the second most popular DOOM: The Dark Ages streamer in the last 30 days. She’s just behind GamesDoneQuick, a group that hosts charity gaming marathons focused on speedrunning.
Grey, who has 1.2 million followers on Twitch, racked up 30,158 hours watched over 31 hours of DOOM: The Dark Ages.
The 37-year-old American, who retired from the adult film industry back in 2011, now enjoys a varied lifestyle that includes authoring books, directing movies, and streaming games. She has been on Twitch since 2020 and most recently streamed games like Clair Obscur, Lies of P, and of course, DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Grey’s pornographic ventures were once described as, ‘distinguished both by the extremity of what she is willing to do and an unusual degree of intellectual seriousness about doing it.’ Those days are long behind her now, and she’s entertaining an audience in an entirely different way.
