Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director says the first game was the hardest to develop in the series.
Square Enix is preparing to release the final installment of the long-running FF7 Remake trilogy next year, and fans are eagerly anticipating the launch of “Revelation.” This title is expected to be grander in every aspect compared to the previous two installments in the series. However, according to Hamaguchi, it wasn’t the most difficult installment to develop.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake was the Foundation; Rebirth and Revelation Could Build On It
In a recent interview with mistermv on YouTube (via Genki_JPN), Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, revealed that the first installment was the most challenging to develop within the series. Hamaguchi explained that when the project restarted, they initially had only 30 developers and had to build the entire team and development structure from the ground up.
In the first installment, the developers set standards for various elements the series would follow, such as graphics, gameplay experience, and overall quality. This foundation allowed for improvements in Rebirth and Revelation. However, the team faced challenges in determining the appropriate quality levels to satisfy players.
