Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s director has revealed that the upcoming title’s Hard Mode will function differently from Remake and Rebirth.
The director has shared new details about the final installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake across different interviews. Players were recently told that the game’s Platinum Trophy will be easier than in the previous installment. Now, we have been told about another element that will change from previous games.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s High Difficulty Experience Has Been Reimagined
During a new interview with Hardcore Gamer, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the title will feature a Hard Mode. However, he did reveal that it will function differently from the previous games, as the high-difficulty experience has been reimagined to work well with the new game design.
In this reimagined system, players can choose Hard Mode at the start of FF7 Revelation, bringing challenge to battles and gameplay from the beginning. The change reflects that Revelation offers a wide variety of end-game content even after completing the game, compared to Remake and Rebirth. Hence, the devs wanted players to enjoy the challenge right from the beginning, rather than after beating the game.

At the same time, the hard mode players are used to from Remake and Rebirth will be retained as ‘Dynamic Mode,’ where players will be able to take on these high-strategy battles when fully leveled up. However, the devs don’t want to keep the same no-item rules, as the game’s co-op abilities and combat system have expanded significantly, and banning items won’t provide the ideal experience they envisioned.
