XBOX has confirmed that Fable’s release has been delayed to February 2027 to get the moment it deserves.
There was a claim last month that Fable has been delayed internally because they were worried about launching it near GTA 6. However, soon after, a developer stepped in to inform players that the delay rumors were false and that they were welcoming them back in Autumn 2026. Now, it seems the rumors were actually true.
Fable Will Now Release in February 2027
A new post by the official X account (formerly Twitter) of XBOX confirms the Fable delay news to 2027. The post states that this decision “so that it can have the dedicated moment it deserves.” For now, players can look forward to a major new look at Fable during their XBOX Showcase in June 2027. At the same time, the developers still haven’t provided a proper date, just a release window. Hopes were high recently as the game appeared on a Korean Ratings site as well.
XBOX still has a lot more games coming this year, with names like Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, as well as Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Grand Theft Auto VI. The company has scheduled a XBOX Games Showcase and a Gears of War E-Day direct scheduled for June 7, 2026. Interested readers can check out Insider Gaming’s guide to learn how to tune in for the livestream.
In other news, Blizzard’s cinematics team is helping with Fable’s development. Additionally, the Fable reboot coming to Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t 100% confirmed, but it is under consideration. This has been my honest expectation since the January direct. The game looks amazing and he studio has earned getting a few extra months to polish instead of pushing this thing out that has been getting worked on for so damn long. No point in getting impatient now. There simply isn’t anymore room for Fable this Holiday, and I would have been way more bummed if they tried giving it the Indiana Jones Release window of December… Right when the games media will be absolutely nothing but guides to how to do everything in GTA.
Plus during the last deep dive from January’s direct, I did see a few times when the lip syncing wasn’t quite one the mark as well as the frame rate during the horseback riding scene. So a few more months of polish will be a good idea, I cant wait till we have this though! Gonna be so good!!
