Matt Booty discusses the importance of synergy in developing Xbox titles.
Booty was recently appointed as Microsoft Gaming’s Chief Content Officer. This promotion coincided with Asha Sharma’s appointment as CEO of Microsoft Gaming, following Phil Spencer’s retirement and Sarah Bond’s resignation.
Fable Benefits From Xbox Studio Synergy
Matt Booty recently appeared on the official Xbox podcast, where, while discussing the projects he’s seen from Xbox Studios that inspire him and the different teams under the Xbox banner, he detailed the teams working together. For example, he says the cinematics team of Blizzard is helping with the development of the upcoming Fable title.
“We’ve got the Blizzard cinematics team helping out on Fable. We’ve got our studio in Montreal, Compulsion Games, using the Activision MoCap studio. We’ve got the team at Rare with a lot of multiplayer experience working on Sea of Thieves, helping out Double Fine on Kiln, the pottery game.”
Other examples he provides of this synergy include some of the technology used in State of Decay 2 being utilized to help build Grounded. Now, the experience from Grounded that Obsidian gathered is being used to help develop State of Decay 3.
