Escape from Tarkov Was The Most Popular ‘New PC Release’ in 2025

In a new access-all-areas report published by NewZoo, we’ve been given a look at the state of play for the entire gaming ecosystem through 2025 and beyond. In one segment, playtime for new titles in 2025 was discussed at length, uncovering an extremely interesting figure.

Escape from Tarkov was the most played new PC release in 2025, with a caveat that it was released from early access, giving it a strong edge in the numbers. Even so, it managed to beat the likes of Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders, both of which sold millions of copies and skyrocketed up the charts.

Escape from Tarkov Was The Biggest Extraction Game of 2025

It’ll be interesting to see how the numbers look now that ARC Raiders has dominated the extraction market for months, but NewZoo’s report is clear in the figures. Escape from Tarkov, from Battlestate Games, was the most played new PC release in 2025, capturing 1.7% of the market share.

By contrast, Battlefield 6 and REDSEC assumed 0.8%, and ARC Raiders picked up 0.6%. That’s even with both launching weeks before Escape from Tarkov hit 1.0 in November.

It gets even more impressive.

According to NewZoo’s data, Escape from Tarkov was the third-most-played new release across all platforms in 2025, securing 0.8% of playtime even with the slew of games that dropped last year muscling in on the numbers.

Now, consider that Escape from Tarkov is available exclusively on PC, and it becomes even more surprising. There’s a console release in the works, but it could be years before it surfaces.

On console platforms specifically, the likes of Monster Hunter Wilds, Battlefield 6, ARC Raiders, Elden Ring Nightreign, Helldivers 2, and Oblivion Remastered all did quite well for themselves.

Again, it’s important to stress that, while technically a ‘new release’, Escape from Tarkov did come from early access.

In the vast sea of extraction titles, Escape from Tarkov still stands atop the mountain, even amid some issues surfacing amongst the community and more competition than ever rising to threaten the game.
