Escape From Playtime Team Hit By Layoffs at Mob Entertainment

Mob Entertainment has laid off members of the Escape from Playtime team on November 4, 2026. Escape from Playtime came out just last month, but hasn’t seen the same performance as the developer’s Poppy’s Playtime titles.

The reasoning behind the layoffs wasn’t provided, but Insider Gaming has learned how many people were being let go from the team.

Escape From Playtime’s Future Amid Layoffs

Richard Maddern, who was the lead game designer for Escape From Playtime at Mob Entertainment, announced on his LinkedIn that he and several other team members were now looking for work.

In a statement provided to Insider Gaming, Mob Entertainment said that 16 people were let go from the company, “the minority of whom were permanent employees.”

News of the layoff does not mean that the game’s future is in danger. In a Discord update on the Poppy’s Playtime server from Senior Communications Manager, Tyler Sanchez, he stated the game’s development will still continue. That was hammered home in the company’s statement.

“We have a number of dedicated employees continuing work on the game and delivering on the roadmap features,” they said. “We want to be absolutely clear about the future of the game: Escape From Playtime is continuing development.

“We’re committed to supporting the game through early access, and our plans to bring it to a full 1.0 launch haven’t changed. We believe in the game and have already made roadmap changes based on community feedback.”

Mob Entertainment says that, right now, the priority is supporting those being let go. They say they are committed to helping them and are grateful for what they’ve contributed to the game.
