Auroch Digital Announces Layoffs Affecting Around a Quarter of Staff

Auroch Digital, the studio behind games such as Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 and Starship Trooper: Ultimate Bug War!, has announced it plans to lay off around 25% of the studio.

The studio announced the news on October 26, explaining that it plans to restructure its operations amid an uncertain period for game developers. While Auroch Digital said its recent releases have been well received by players, the company acknowledged that it has also been affected by the broader challenges facing the industry.

Auroch Digital Calls It a “Challenging and Uncertain Time”

In a statement announcing the layoffs, Auroch Digital management said that they are “immensely proud” of what the team has acheived with recent games. They are also “deeply sorry for the position we are now in.”

“We know this will be an incredibly challenging and uncertain time for everyone at the studio,” they said. “Our priority is supporting everyone through the consultation process with as much care and respect as we can. We will work hard to lessen the impact of these changes.”

While calling on other studios to find a place for the impacted staff, the studio also gave an update to players regarding where things stand with their games.

“To our players, we want you to know development and post-launch support for Warhammer Survivors and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 will continue,” they said.

“Our path forward will always include making games with the same passion, care, and quality you’ve come to expect from us. While our immediate focus is supporting our colleagues through this process, you should expect nothing less from us in the future.”

Auroch Digital was founded in 2010 in Bristol, England. In September 2021, it was acquired by Sumo Group for $8.3 million. Then, in 2025, Roundtable Interactive bought the studio from Sumo Group.
