Death Stranding’s $400 Sam Statue Comes With a Spelling Error

Sideshow has just published a first-look video of the upcoming launch of the ‘Sam’ Sixth Scale Figure for Death Stranding 2 from Hot Toys. It’s a gorgeous thing that features deep detail, scores of accessories, interchangeable elements, and even eyeballs that move.

The problem is, it also contains a glaring spelling error that the company either hasn’t noticed or simply doesn’t care about.

A Better Tomorrew, Today

If you’re the ultimate Death Stranding fan, you might want to invest in the new Sam Porter Bridges figurine that’s coming from Hot Toys in December. It can be pre-ordered now, and if you really want to break the bank, you can opt for a fancy edition that boasts all the bells and whistles.

I’m talking rolling eyeballs, multiple attachments and cases, different BB units, UV reflective elements, a stunning figure with over 30 points of articulation, and other items, like a collectible card and display case. The better editions of the figurine also come with LED lights for that extra buzz.

Unfortunately, what all versions seem to also have is a very obvious spelling error. In recent hours (at the time of writing), eagle-eyed netizens spotted a blunder in a video uploaded by Sideshow on social media. It was a deep-dive video published to showcase the wonders of the figurine, but most folks are concerned about the spelling error on the back of Sam’s outfit.

It reads:

DRAWBRIDGE.

BOTH STICK AND ROPE, TO PROTECT AND CONNECT, TOGETHER, FOR TOMORREW

You’d think that for a $400+ collectible item, someone in the design department might have at least used a spell checker. Sadly, there is a lot more text around the body and across the accessories, and there’s no telling if more grammatical errors are littered around.

For some, this is a petty thing to be concerned about, but for the most passionate enthusiast parting ways with a stack of cash to procure one of these figurines, attention to detail is probably the bare minimum they’d expect.

Do you think it’s worth worrying about this spelling error? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
