Intel is reportedly considering yet another price hike for CPUs amid massive demand, according to reports.
In a new report from Chinese market research firm Minutes Logic Society, Intel is reportedly planning yet another price hike to its CPUs in the next couple of months.
The price hike will be the third this year, after the CPU manufacturer increased CPU prices in February and again in March. According to the report, CPU prices will be around 30% higher than in 2025.
It’s said that the price hike is due to demand and that Intel currently can’t fix its CPU supply problem.
Yes, It’s Because of AI
Of course, the rising demand for CPUs is driven by the growing demand in AI data centers, which require more CPUs. It’s the same demand that has driven the price of RAM and GPUs to increase exponentially over the last 12 months.
Other chip manufacturers, notably AMD can’t keep up with the demand, and seemingly, neither can Intel, instead, opting to increase the prices across the board to try and stagnate the amount of chips being bought.
As for when PC component prices will stop rising or drop, that remains to be seen, but unfortunately, it likely all depends on how far the ‘AI bubble’ goes.
The resulting bubble has driven technology prices up across the board, with some companies, such as Lenovo, having to raise the prices of their handhelds by nearly 50%. Earlier this year, graphics card manufacturer NVIDIA announced that it wouldn’t be releasing a new GPU this year as it focuses its efforts on AI.
