Pokémon Go continues to regularly drop new Pokémon to add to your collection, with one of the most recent additions being Orthworm, and there’s a surprise for Shiny hunters.
Orthworm, introduced in the Paldea region and Generation 9 of the franchise, makes its Pokémon Go debut during the Steeled Resolve event, where it headlines as a new addition, alongside the return of Meltan.
If you’re on the hunt for Orthworm in Pokémon Go and want to know if its Shiny form is available, Insider Gaming has all the details.
Can You Catch Shiny Orthworm in Pokémon Go?

Yes, it’s possible to catch a Shiny Orthworm in Pokémon Go, as Niantic has made a slight adjustment to the usual debut of new Pokémon in the game.
Usually, a Pokémon debut does not come alongside the immediate availability of its Shiny form in Pokémon Go, with that special drop saved for a later date. This has been the case recently with the likes of Mimikyu, but it’s a different situation with Orthworm.

The Galarian worm Pokémon has not seen its Shiny form saved for a debut later down the line, meaning there’s the possibility to add to your Shiny collection immediately.
Orthworm has a great Shiny version too, with the red on its body replaced with a light blue, so it’s easy to identify even if you miss the animation informing you that you’ve found a Shiny.
How to Get Shiny Orthworm in Pokémon Go
There is no guaranteed way to obtain a Shiny Orthworm in Pokémon Go, and, instead, you’ll need to pray to the RNG Gods to bless you with luck.
Orthworm is encounterable in Three-Star Raids during the Steeled Resolve event in Pokémon Go, which runs until Monday, May 4 at 8 PM local time, so its spawns should be easier to spot in advance.

However, this does mean there are limitations to the number of Orthworm you can encounter, as they won’t spawn randomly around you, which makes the grind for the Shiny form that bit harder.
The Shiny odds for a Three-Star raid are reportedly set at 1/64, so there could be a long string of Raid battles ahead of you to encounter a Shiny Orthworm. Fortunately, there’s a decent chunk of time.
