Nine years after Shiny Volcanion first debuted in the Pokémon franchise, the Shiny variant is now available to claim via a reward in Pokémon Home.
Shiny Volcanion was among a large list of permanently Shiny-locked Pokémon in the franchise, despite featuring as a ‘Shining Volcanion’ card during the Sun and Moon era of the Pokémon TCG, but it’s now finally available to own.
If you’re looking for exactly how to obtain Shiny Volcanion in Pokémon Home, Insider Gaming has all the details.
How to Get Shiny Volcanion in Pokémon Home

Shiny Volcanion is obtained in Pokémon Home after you complete all three Pokédexes in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Legends: Z-A is split into three Pokédexes, with the Lumiose Pokédex featuring all of the available Pokémon from within Lumiose City directly, which, in theory, should be the easiest to complete.
The Hyperspace Pokédex contains all of the Pokémon available in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, which are harder to catch due to the random Wormhole generations. Fortunately, you can reset the Wormholes by time-skipping on a bench, resulting in more spawning.

The final step is to complete the Mega Evolution Pokédex in Pokémon Home, which is done by obtaining the specific Pokémon and their required Mega Stone. Catching Venusaur, for example, is not enough to mark the step as complete, as you also need to obtain Venusaurite.
Ticking them all off in Legends: Z-A still isn’t enough, however, as you need to ensure all Pokémon are registered within Pokémon Home.
How to Register Caught Pokémon in Pokémon Home
Pokémon are only registered in Pokémon Home once they are transferred from an existing game into Pokémon Home, which then marks them off the Pokédex.
However, to obtain the Shiny Volcanion award, you need to ensure every Pokémon has the Z-A mark. A Bulbasaur previously registered that was caught in another game, like Scarlet and Violet, will not count towards the Lumiose Pokédex.

This can be particularly troublesome if you have already evolved Pokémon, as you will be required to catch the Pokémon again. Unlike previous games, there’s no breeding in Legends: Z-A, so you can’t use that method to fast-forward the process.
Fortunately, you can transfer Pokémon in and out of Home, so you can start by transferring over a bunch of Pokémon, then bringing them back into Legends: Z-A and evolving them, before repeating the process.
