For years, the concept of the battle royale has remained mostly unchanged. There’s a large map, lots of players, and an ever-shrinking zone that closes in on competitors, reducing the size of the play area over time. We know it, the idea is familiar, and it works.
However, Battlefield 6’s incoming battle royale mode offers up ‘the deadliest ring in BR’, an insta-death circle that shrinks and kills everyone on impact.
High stakes indeed.
How Does the Ring Work in Battlefield 6 Battle Royale?
Recently, Battlefield Labs reopened and began inviting players to explore the all-new battle royale mode, which is set to arrive in the game later this year (potentially). EA’s teams have described it as a ‘high-stakes and adrenaline-pumping gameplay experience’, and at first blush, it looks pretty damn good.
In a blog post on the EA site, the battle royale platform was explored, and the team dished out the necessary details regarding the mode’s killer feature – the ring of death.
We set out to bring the most dangerous ring in gaming to Battle Royale that instantly kills players upon contact. With urgent warnings as the fire approaches, soldiers will be pushed into more intense firefights as the game space continues to shrink.
There’s no jumping in and out of it, no using it for cover, no walking through it – if you get caught in it, you are done. We’re excited to see how the ring affects the pace of the game and how it creates spontaneous showdowns.
The concept of using the ring to take out enemy players will be more applicable than ever in Battlefield 6. We know that the ring of death is fire-based, but it’ll be interesting to see how it instantly kills players as opposed to dealing damage over time. What’s great is that the ring can no longer be cheesed to win fights.
Hiding in the gas in Warzone, anyone?
