Embark Studios has lifted the lid on the highly anticipated Frozen Trail update for ARC Raiders, and it looks set to be the biggest addition yet for the extraction shooter.
Not only will the update introduce a brand-new map and several ARC enemies, but Embark has also revealed Raider Dens, a new weapon tier, additional equipment, and a Reward Pass system. All of the details were showcased during a lengthy presentation, giving players their first proper look at what’s coming on October 8.
Frozen Trail Complete Breakdown
The reveals kicked off with our first look at Pendola Pass, a frozen map surrounded by mountains and featuring a small village and Exodus transport hub. Its defining feature, however, is the fallen Emperor, whose enormous husk dominates the landscape.
Three new ARC enemies will also arrive with the map. The Bully is a four-legged ARC that relentlessly chases players while firing at them, while the smaller Skulker ambushes Raiders before quickly retreating. The Hydra, meanwhile, is a turret-type ARC with three sets of guns, requiring players to attack it from different angles.
There’s also the Frigate, a massive ship that players will board and search for loot. Unlike other ARC encounters, it can’t be destroyed, instead serving as a higher-level encounter that offers something different from the usual raiding experience.
Outside of raids, Raider Den Outposts will allow players to reclaim parts of the surface and customize them with furniture. The Research Workstation will also introduce a fifth weapon quality tier, with 15 weapons receiving upgrades that can significantly change how they function.
Two new weapons are also coming: the Stiletto, a light-ammo rifle, and the Bantam, a heavy-ammo revolver. New equipment, including the Grappling Hook and tethers, will give players even more options when building their loadouts.
Finally, Frozen Trail will introduce the Reward Pass, effectively serving as ARC Raiders’ take on a battle pass. Both Free and Premium tracks will offer new outfits, Raider Tokens, and other in-game rewards.
Frozen Trail arrives on October 8 and is shaping up to be a substantial addition to ARC Raiders, bringing a new map, enemies, weapons, progression systems, and plenty more to the extraction shooter.
