ARC Raiders Crafting Changes Are ‘Just The Start’ of Pain Point Updates

In the recent Flashpoint update in ARC Raiders, developer Embark Studios added a new map condition, two new ARC constructs, some fresh weapons, quests, and a bunch of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. One such change was around the in-game crafting system, which has been made more intuitive and streamlined following mass player feedback over the last few months.

To cut down on the time spent crafting, Embark Studios has made the process seamless, auto-filling required components from players’ collections and reducing the amount of navigation needed to make stuff ahead of raids.

This keeps the flow of the game moving quickly, but Embark Studios has advised it’s just the beginning of a much more conscious effort to streamline the game.

Listening to the ARC Raiders Community

Embark Studios has always touted a community-first approach to developing ARC Raiders, the exciting extraction adventure game that dropped at the end of October. The title became an overnight sensation, but it wasn’t long before players started finding faults with the game’s base formula.

Unfortunately, some of those issues are only just being addressed by Embark Studios, including the cumbersome approach to crafting items in-game.

In a recent blog post, the team explained that all-new changes to the game’s crafting systems were made in a bid to appease the community:

A lot of you pointed out that gathering missing materials for a craft was more work than it should be. You already knew where to get what you needed, maybe from recycling something you had lying around, or picking it up from Celeste, but jumping through multiple screens to actually do it was a pain point. That friction was getting in the way of the fun.

To resolve that pain point, a change was made:

We’ve introduced a streamlined way to acquire missing materials directly from the crafting screen. Now, when you’re missing something for a craft, you’ll see a new Acquire Resources button. Tap it, and you’ll get a clear list of every available source where you can get what you need, whether that’s recycling, buying from Celeste, or something else, so you can fill the gap and complete your craft without losing your flow.

The keyword here is available: if a material is obtainable through your current options, you’ll see it, and you can act on it immediately. No more hunting through menus. No more abandoning crafts out of frustration.

But at the base of that blog post, more changes were teased. The team explained that this ‘doesn’t fix everything’, and that more changes are coming to address the ‘pain points’ that have been plaguing players for the longest time. It was promised that the team would keep ‘chipping away’ at these issues, producing more alterations soon.
