Riot Games has announced that, in addition to League of Legends Classic, there will be a Classic-inspired ARAM Mayhem mode too.
League of Legends Classic launches July 29 with 60 champions featuring old kits, old items, old runes and more from between the 2009 and 2013 seasons.
ARAM: Mayhem Classic-ish will launch alongside the new game as a separate game mode and queue to ARAM and Mayhem.
Riot is labelling it as Classic-ish, as the mode will still feature champions’ modern kits rather than their pre-rework abilities.
What is ARAM: Mayhem Classic-ish?
ARAM: Mayhem Classic-ish will be a retro twist on the fan-favourite ARAM Mayhem mode.
Like original Mayhem, it will see players randomly given a champion and play 5v5 on a single lane map, hence the All Random All Mid name.

And it will feature Augments, powerful in-game modifiers which upgrade your champion’s stats, give them new passive abilities, or empower specific skills.
Classic-ish will only feature the 60 champions launching with LoL Classic and will allow for mirror matches with the same champion available to both teams.
The game mode will be played on a new map, which appears to be based on the original Summoner’s Rift rather than Howling Abyss or Proving Ground.
While it won’t feature classic kits, it will feature old-school items and will feature new Classic-inspired Augments.
Andrei ‘Meddler’ van Roon, senior vice president at Riot Games, explained on Reddit why they kept modern abilities for this new mode:
“Augments are all built (and tested) to work with modern kits, hence the need to use those in this case. We wanted to offer a version of Mayhem that was more accessible to Classic players, but didn’t want to pull a lot of development time away from Classic itself.”
The mode will only be available for a limited time, with its own queue separate from ARAM Mayhem.
