Developer Funcom finally lets us explore the world of Arrakis as spectators to their world premiere Dune Awakening gameplay reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live! The 5-minute gameplay reveal, shown to the world, reveals the type of combat we’ll engage in, the world-building they’ve constructed, and some of the characters and settings of the game.

I didn’t know what I was hoping for from the Dune Awakening gameplay reveal at Gamescom, but everything we saw from developer Funcom absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. A look at various classes, combat, the world with multiple traversal methods, exploration, base-building, and so much more should offer hundreds of hours of gameplay!
You can even fly! It’ll make exploring the world for unique points of interest and resources a game-changer. As you loot, you can return everything to a central hub to trade items and resources and pledge your loyalty to a Great House.
Oh, and sandworms!
For those lucky enough to visit Gamescom in person, Funcom is also providing a 30-minute gameplay showcase of Dune Awakening during Gamescom. We’ll be able to see it from the comfort of our homes across the world, as content creators have permission to live stream the gameplay to the masses.
