A Battlefield Movie Is In Development With Michael B. Jordan

Another video game movie adaptation is in the works, and this time it’s EA’s Battlefield franchise.

First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Battlefield will be getting a movie that includes some major names attached to the project.

According to the report, Christopher McQuarrie, known for franchises like Jack Reacher and Mission Impossible, is slated to write, direct, and produce the movie. But he’s not the only name taking part in the movie’s development. The story also states that Oscar-winning Michael B. Jordan (Sinners, Black Panther, Creed) will be a producer on Battlefield.

There’s also the possibility he stars in the film, but the report says that depends on “several factors.” What those factors are, however, weren’t mentioned in the story.

McQuarrie and others are reportedly in the process of pitching and taking bids on the movie. Sources told the outlet that they’ve already had meetings with Apple and Sony, with more to come. They also state that the priority is to have the movie released in theaters as opposed to a streaming-only release.

“It is unclear when bidding will commence,” the article reads, “but studio business affairs execs better gird their loins for this one. It will not be cheap. Talent costs will be one thing, but even getting rights to the game will be pricey.”

EA is also going to help produce the film.
