Asha Sharma Says Xbox Wants To Make “The Right Decision” On Exclusives

Xbox is reevaluating the idea of exclusivity, but it’s not a decision that new CEO Asha Sharma wants to rush into.

In a recent interview with Stephen Totilo over at Game File, Sharma spoke about the company’s planned reevaluation of exclusive games. In a memo that was sent to the Xbox team and posted publicly shortly thereafter, Sharma confirmed the rumors that the company was taking a look at its recent decisions regarding exclusive games and whether things could change.

With Totilo, Sharma said that no decisions have been made, and the company is using different approaches to make the right one.

“We’ll take a data-driven approach and a strategic-driven approach, and then we’ll look at our principles and we’ll make some calls,” Sharma said. “So we’ll share more when we’re ready.”

As far as a timeframe is concerned, Sharma said there was nothing that Xbox was “ready to commit to” right now.

“I want to make the right decision, not the fastest decision,” She said, adding that these decisions are ones that have “decade-long impact”.

It’s not just all about exclusives with Xbox, either. As part of this new era for the division, the company is reportedly leaning back into the Xbox name as opposed to Microsoft Gaming. They are also working on making their hardware the place that players want to play games, starting with the current generation of Xbox consoles.

Do you think Xbox will ultimately bring back exclusive games to its consoles in the future? Leave your thoughts in the comments below, and in the official Insider Gaming Discord.
