If you’re ever looking for new PlayStation reveals and information, it’s likely to appear during a State of Play: Sony’s presentations for new games and announcements.

Well, rumors have begun to swirl that a new one could be taking place in April 2026, and if they’re correct, it’ll be happening sooner than you might think. It’s got the PlayStation fanbase buzzing, as leaks are starting to pile up regarding which games could feature during the latest presentation.

If you’re wondering when to expect the latest State of Play, as well as which games could get a feature, you’re in the right place—Insider Gaming has all the details below.

As things stand, there’s no official announcement for the April State of Play, but according to reliable leaker NateTheHate on X, the upcoming showcase was meant to take place on April 16, 2026.

Whilst it did seem plausible, with PlayStation often hosting a State of Play during early Spring in the past, April 16 has since arrived, and no official announcement from PlayStation was to be seen. It’s thus fair to assume no State of Play will be taking place this week, and all eyes move to next week—if at all.

Whenever the eventual showcase does take place, it’s likely that PlayStation will stick to its regular streaming schedule, with the State of Play presumably going live at 2 PM PT. For those of you not on the West Coast, here’s when you could expect the upcoming State of Play to go live:

What Games Could Feature During The April 2026 State Of Play?

Rumors suggest that the upcoming State of Play will revolve around third-party titles, though there are also hopes that Marvel’s Wolverine will make a special appearance.

Sony hosts a variety of State of Plays, with some focusing solely on a single first-party title, whilst others are trailer extravaganzas with tons of announcements and reveals. As things stand, it’s unclear which category the April showcase will fall under, though NateTheHate suggests that it ‘sounds more third-party focused.’

That’s not to say that Marvel’s Wolverine won’t make an appearance, especially considering that Insomniac maintain that they’ll show more gameplay in Spring 2026. There’s every chance that it appears in this showcase, or perhaps in its own deep dive in the near future—but for now, details are unconfirmed.

As for what games could appear during the State of Play itself, it’s best to look towards the release calendar. Some huge games like 007: First Light, Control: Resonant and LEGO Batman: Beyond Gotham could all have a chance at appearing during the showcase, as well as the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake—could it be revealed during the State of Play?

As things stand, it’s purely speculation, but should some fresh leaks surface ahead of the showcase’s reveal, Insider Gaming will be quick to update this article with any extra details.
