Gray Zone Warfare Console Release Planned for 1.0

When Gray Zone Warfare came out in April 2024, MADFINGER Games made it clear that the eventual goal was to bring the open-world tactical shooter to console platforms. Yesterday, the game’s 0.4 update (named Spearhead) was released, bringing the most substantial evolution of the game yet, but there’s still no indication of when Gray Zone Warfare will come to consoles.

That is, until Rick Lagnese, PR Director at MADFINGER, took to social media to set out firmer expectations for when Gray Zone Warfare, which is now better than ever, is coming to console.

Gray Zone Warfare Will Be a Unique Addition to Consoles

Gray Zone Warfare is one of the best shooters out right now, and that’s represented by the growth it has seen in recent days. Since the 0.4 update was released, the game has skyrocketed up the charts on Steam, hitting a peak player count not seen since the game was launched in April 2024.

The review sentiments around the game are also improving greatly, with MADFINGER having made immense strides in the optimization and evolution of the title with the Spearhead update.

Following a few genre changes over the last two years, Gray Zone Warfare is now a PvE-first tactical sandbox shooter, which means it will be entering the console market with very little competition.

But when is Gray Zone Warfare coming to console?

When responding to a question on social media about that very topic, the PR Director at MADFINGER, Rick Lagnese, said:

Console released is planned for 1.0

Short, sharp, and simple. The roadmap for Gray Zone Warfare is long and stacked, and MADFINGER will want to pour further updates into the ecosystem before pushing it out to console platforms as a finished product.

It’s a similar path being followed by Escape from Tarkov, arguably the most prolific extraction shooter ever made. In November 2025, Escape from Tarkov hit 1.0, and the game’s console launch was addressed by the developer at Battlestate Games.

Gray Zone Warfare coming to consoles would mark the arrival of a massive, dense, and sumptuous open-world shooter with untold potential for expansion. That’s a huge win for console gamers.
