Crimson Desert is already working towards creating a Switch 2 version; however, there are some challenges to get past.
Pearl Abyss’s new open-world action-adventure game has achieved remarkable sales and positive reviews worldwide. To boost sales even further, the developers are considering expanding to additional platforms. The only major platform they have yet to release the game on is the Nintendo Switch 2.
Crimson Desert Devs Will Have to Compromise on Graphic Quality for Switch 2 Version
According to a report by the South Korean outlet INVEN, Pearl Abyss developers addressed a Switch 2 version of Crimson Desert during a recent shareholders’ meeting. The CEO, Heo Jin-young, stated that internal R&D on the Switch version has already begun. However, because the console has “specification limitations” compared to others, the developers will have to “compromise on some graphic quality.”
Pearl Abyss will have to “assess how this will affect user satisfaction” before it can come to a decision. At the moment, the CEO has stated that they “cannot make definitive statements regarding feasibility or timing at this stage, we are paying close attention and preparing for it.” Additionally, he stated that the team has “reaffirmed that continuous platform expansion, including mobile, is our mid-to-long-term strategy.”
In other news, during the same shareholders meeting, Pearl Abyss stated that the core development team for Crimson Desert has moved to their next game, DokeV.
