A new blog post from IO Interactive confirms that its publishing partnership with Build a Rocket Boy ended on March 16, 2026, and that Build a Rocket Boy now holds sole publishing responsibilities. All of IO Interactive’s involvement with MindsEye has concluded, except for “transitional functions required to transfer publisher-of-record status.” The transition will take place in the coming weeks.
Moreover, as part of the partnership, IO Interactive has also decided to cancel the Hitman collaboration with Minds Eye. A Hitman mission that was announced as a crossover event for MindsEye back in June 2025 will no longer take place. At the same time, Build a Rocket Boy will continue to work with partners on other projects. Both IOI and BARB “recognize the anticipation this collaboration generated among the community and express their appreciation for the support shown by the players.”
In other news, A new update has revealed that the Hitman live-action TV series is ‘dead in the water‘. Additionally, Build a Rocket Boy announced more layoffs in March 2026, a decision the CEO is calling “deeply painful.” What are your thoughts on IO Interactive ending its partnership with Build a Rocket Boy?
