Embark Studios has posted a message on social media and Discord announcing its intention to look into recent bans handed out to players of ARC Raiders using an accessibility peripheral. In the recent post, the team said they’re ‘reviewing all appeals’, which, presumably, means they’re trudging through the gripes with a human eye.
In the interim, the team directed players to the Embark support platform, where they can request an appeal of a recent ban decision. This isn’t the first time players have complained about facing ‘false bans’ in ARC Raiders.
Have You Been Banned in ARC Raiders?
For weeks, if not longer, players have talked about being banned ‘for no reason’ in ARC Raiders. It was a theme that surfaced more prominently as the new year kicked off, with Embark Studios returning from a festive break and promptly wading into a sea of cheaters and malicious operators.
On social media, countless players, including some of the biggest streamers in the business, reported being banned from ARC Raiders.
In a new post, Embark has once again said it’s looking at ARC Raiders bans that might be false and not indicative of punishing a real cheater:
It’s come to our attention that certain players using accessibility peripherals are getting banned in the game. We are working hard on resolving this issue as soon as possible.
Our support team is reviewing all appeals, please continue to reach out to us if this has happened to you.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
The team then shared the link to the Embark support page that details how to get your account unbanned, if you’re lucky, by submitting an official appeal. It reads:
If your account has received a restriction, this guide explains how the appeal process works, what you can expect during a review, and where to find more information about our enforcement policies.
At the end of the appeals process, your ban will either be upheld, adjusted, or lifted.
On Reddit, some users praised Embark Studios for taking decisive action against bans that are removing players who need more accessibility measures from the game. Many third-party inputs and software components conflict with anti-cheat systems, and this has long been an issue.
It doesn’t help that most of these peripherals have been reworked by malicious operators to seek an advantage over ‘legitimate’ players.
That’s where the opposite side of the fence resided, with many suggesting that if Embark Studios becomes more lenient on accessibility devices, they open the door to more cheaters.
