Albion Online, the enormous sandbox MMORPG released in 2017, is about to get a massive overhaul. In a new press release, the team at Sandbox Interactive announced Radiant Wilds, an update of epic scope and scale that endeavours to change the face of this free-to-play fantasy title.
Amongst other things, the Radiant Wilds patch introduces new lighting mechanics, updated water shaders, cleaner textures, and enhanced smaller details for elements like foliage and wildlife. It’s designed to ‘bring even more life to Albion.’
Albion Online Will Be Upgraded in Radiant Wilds
Sandbox Interactive has unveiled a major update coming to Albion Online on April 13. The substantial overhaul, dubbed Radiant Wilds, will heighten the individuality of the game’s multiple biomes, offering vast improvements to the game’s visual palette while avoiding any boosted specification requirements.
It’s an economic upgrade, that’s for sure.
In a recent press release, Sandbox broke down what’s coming in Radiant Wilds next month:
- Visual overhaul: To bring Albion up to a new visual standard changes will include improved
lighting, better colouring and contrast, and new visual textures. - The Armory: A brand-new feature that uses player data to recommend builds for different game modes. It can be accessed directly or via other in-game UIs.
- 1v1 Arena: A new version of the existing 5v5 Arena, allowing players to sign up to battle 1v1
in a timed, non-lethal arena to get accustomed to PvP without losing gear. The Crystal Arena
will also receive a new map. - Enhanced Controller Support: Significant changes to controller support will ensure combat
and UI navigation is smoother and more intuitive across all platforms. - Performance improvements: Technical improvements have been added aimed at delivering smoother gameplay, especially during large battles.
Performance improvements are inbound as part of the Radiant Wilds update, too. It’s a community-led thing that has been compiled based on feedback, and it’s set to please the thousands of people still neck-deep in the world of Albion Online.
