March 2026 brings a brand-new PlayStation Portal update. The most significant improvement is the new 1080p High Quality mode, which will make your gameplay smoother than butter and more glorious than a beautifully manicured garden.
The PlayStation Portal has been a great success for Sony. The ability to play PS5 games on the go is a no-brainer, and Sony continues to support the device. A March 2026 update has added a huge new feature and made other vital tweaks.
1080p High Quality Mode & Several Enhancements In PlayStation Portal Update

A March 17 PlayStation Blog discussed the increasing presence of the PlayStation Portal and how more people than ever are engaging with it: “Cloud Streaming monthly users grew by 162% year-over-year in January, and over 50% of PS Portal users are now PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.”
But you didn’t come here for that; you came for news on the 1080p High-Quality Mode.
Once the update is installed, you can choose an upgraded 1080p High Quality mode during Remote Play and Cloud Streaming, which ‘prioritizes higher video quality and uses more data.’
This should be a nice improvement over the 1080p Standard mode. Also, Sony has announced improvements to the overall streaming experience: Product pages, game invites, trophy information, and search functions have all been enhanced for greater accessibility and navigation.
Finally, the update now gives new players a ‘smoother onboarding experience’ to get you suited and booted in a flash.
The update goes live on March 18, and you can start enjoying all the new features right away!
