VCT EMEA 2026 Kickoff Ushers in a New Era of Competition

Riot Games has unveiled the full format for the VCT EMEA 2026 Kickoff, introducing an ambitious structural change that has been met with mixed sentiments from fans. The event will feature 12 teams competing across a four-week window, with the spotlight sitting firmly on a rarely-seen triple elimination bracket.

This all-new format has been designed to maximize competitive opportunities and fan engagement, even if it might be a little confusing at first blush.

VCT EMEA 2026 Triple Elimination Format Revealed

Unlike traditional brackets, the triple elimination format gives teams three lifelines. Their first loss propels them down into the Middle Bracket, a second into the Lower Bracket, and a third loss will end their run in the tournament. This ensures that early setbacks don’t immediately punish teams, allowing for a wider competitive spectrum.

Each bracket will have a unique champion. All three winners will go on to qualify for VALROANT Masters Santiago, which ensures that, across the board, chances are being given.

Four powerhouse teams from last season – Fnatic, Team Liquid, GIANTX, and Team Heretics – will enter directly into the Upper Bracket second round, setting the stage for high-level clashes right off the bat.

The tournament will unfold in a structured timeline that unfolds between January 20 to February 15:

  • Week 1: Upper Bracket R1 & R2
  • Week 2: Middle Bracket and Upper Bracket Semis
  • Week 3: Lower Bracket matchups
  • Week 4: Three Bracket Finals

Beyond Masters qualification, the Kickoff awards Championship Points for long-term standings. At the end of the season, these points help determine which teams will secure spots at VALORANT Champions Shanghai. That’s how critical this tournament is.
