The upcoming Resident Evil film has cast three new actors, including two Emmy-nominated ones from True Detective and Severance.
Directed by Weapons’ Zach Cregger, the film, set in the world of Resident Evil, was a huge hot ticket for studios, with Sony Pictures getting the win. The project is currently in production and slated to release on September 18th, 2026. While not much is known about the story outside of a few details, we now have three new actors joining the cast, with two recently snagging some pretty big award nominations.
Severance’s Zach Cherry and True Detective’s Kali Reis Join Resident Evil Film
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Johnno Wilson have been added to the cast of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil. The three join previously announced cast members Austin Abrams and Paul Walter-Hauser. Unlike Paul, we do have some details for Zach and Kali’s characters. Zach Cherry will play a hospital scientist, and Kali Reis will play a veteran originally written for a male. No details were given for Johnno Wilson’s character.
Despite a newer resume, Johnno Wilson is currently starring in another video game adaptation, Peacock’s Twisted Metal, as the scene-stealing Dave. However, the biggest of the three names is Zach Cherry and Kali Reis. Both actors have earned Primetime Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actor/Actress for their roles in Severance (Zach Cherry) and True Detective: Night Country (Kali Reis). As both have dealt with horror before, it’s quite fitting to have them join Resident Evil, especially one done by the director of Weapons.
