Slay the Spire 2 is trying to stay ahead of unkept promises by issuing a roadmap without firm delivery dates.
Slay the Spire 2 has had strong success since its debut in Steam Early Access in March 2025. It still sees a high player count with nearly 300,000 concurrent players in the last 24 hours at the time of this writing. Within one month, the game even sold 5 million copies.

No Firm Release Dates for These Slay the Spire 2 Changes
Casey from Mega Crit also addressed the lack of release dates. In their statement, they discuss being a small development team and choosing to work at a healthy pace rather than overly promising a firm timeline.
“We evaluate our tasks each week and work on what feels most impactful. It’s not the most organized method, but this allows spontaneous experimentation like the dialogues you have with the Ancients or the existence of a Room Full of Cheese. We won’t massively expand the size of the studio to finish the game faster. Exacting deadlines produce sloppy uninspired work and I don’t want Sloppy Spire 2, I want Slay the Spire 2,” the statement reads.
Insider Gaming will continue to monitor this game’s development and report any updates as more information becomes available.
