A new registered domain from Universal Pictures may hint at a future Super Mario film adaptation ahead of tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct.
The series, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is in high spirits. Ahead of tomorrow’s hour-long Nintendo Direct, fans are excited to see what’s next for the Italian plumber and company. Unfortunately, one of the big surprises may have been leaked ahead of the intended reveal.
Next Super Mario Film May Be Titled Super Mario Galaxy
A user on Reddit’s /GamingLeaksandRumours, Toadkiri, spotted a new Super Mario domain registered by Universal Pictures. The studio was responsible for producing The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023. The domain in question, registered in Spanish and French, is ‘supermariogalaxy’. Furthermore, they link to the ‘nbcuni’ servers, which stand for NBC Universal.
While it does seem legit, take the leak with a grain of salt. On that note, an earlier leak, spoiled by NBC, showed that the Super Mario Bros. Movie’s sequel has the title “Super Mario World”. Even still, Super Mario Galaxy, named after the acclaimed Wii series, could be a spinoff or the yet-to-be-announced third film title.
With that said, we could hear more about it tomorrow at the Nintendo Direct. The film is currently the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time, so more films and projects aren’t out of the ordinary. Regardless, it being Super Mario Galaxy does provide some context as to where the films will go next.
Do you hope the Super Mario domain leaks are real? Should Super Mario Galaxy get adapted? Did you enjoy The Super Mario Bros. Movie? Let us know in the comments and on the forums!
