Super Mario World may very well succeed The Super Mario Bros. Movie after an NBC Universal bulletin revealed a ton of content the company was working on. The original advert has since been removed, fueling speculation that it wasn’t time to reveal it yet.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a lot of fun. Was it the greatest movie ever? Does it even come close to usurping the best video-game TV and film adaptations? The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Mario fans have been wondering about the next movie, what source material it would use, and its title—and the latter might have finally been revealed, accidentally.
Super Mario World Could be The Next Movie

We know a new Mario movie is set for 2026. Other than this, we don’t know much else. However, NBC Universal might have done us all a favour by posting a news post looking at NBC Universal‘s offerings in 2025 and beyond.
The original post mentions a few projects, and Super Mario World is one of them. This finally gives us a title for the new Mario movie, but we possibly shouldn’t have been told already.
The NBC post—as of writing—no longer mentions the Mario movie. Several movies are missing from the listing. We know Mario was mentioned, and you can see what the post originally looked like—thanks to Wario64.

Whatever the reason for its removal, we can maybe start looking ahead to the movie and what to expect. The title means we’re likely getting major involvement from Yoshi, one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
How do you hope a potential Super Mario World movie can improve on its predecessor? Is there a particular Mario element or piece of lore you’re keen to see in the sequel? Let us know through the Insider Gaming forum.
