Fans have been waiting for a big Nintendo showcase for quite a while, and that wait appears to finally be over. Nintendo has announced it’s next Nintendo Direct will take place on September 12, 2025, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest direct of the year.
The upcoming Nintendo Direct will give players a new look at games for the Nintendo Switch 2 and original Switch. As with every showcase event, players are going to be eager to see what surprises Nintendo has in store and what games may, or may not, show up during the show. When Is Nintendo Direct For September 2025?
As mentioned earlier, the next Nintendo Direct will take place on Friday, September 12, 2025. It’ll be the seventh Nintendo Direct of the year, and first since August 19, 2025 when Nintendo focused on Kirby Air Riders. In total, Nintendo has held 10 showcases in 2025 when counting Pokémon Presents, Directs, and the Indie World Showcase.

How To Watch Nintendo Direct?
To watch the Nintendo Direct for September 12, 2025, you can tune into Nintendo’s official channels on either Twitch or YouTube.
In past experiences, watching Nintendo Direct shows on Twitch is often the best way. Twitch broadcasts are slightly ahead by a few seconds than their YouTube counterparts. That said, it really all depends on the platform you prefer as the quality of both YouTube and Twitch are strong. The YouTube broadcast will be available below.
How Long Is The Nintendo Direct?
September 12’s Nintendo Direct will be roughly 60 minutes or an hour long. Nintendo confirmed that information in its announcement, making it one of the longest events of the year from Nintendo. The only other event in 2025 that lasted an hour was the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2.
What To Expect From September 2025’s Nintendo Direct
With it being an hour long, Nintendo fans should expect plenty of major announcements during the next Nintendo Direct. As far as specifics, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is scheduled to release in 2025, making this showcase a prime opportunity to give players an official release date. The Nintendo Direct also takes place one day before the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. release. There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the future of everyone’s favorite plumber, and it could be assumed that a new game announcement—or even re-releases—will be coming.
As far as what else to expect, Nintendo likes to keep things close to the vest, so it’s really anyone’s guess.
