Treyarch is toying with the idea of a visible health bar in Black Ops 7. The feature hasn’t been seen since Black Ops Cold War, but the game’s design director has revealed that it could be happening.
Black Ops Cold War was an underrated CoD by the time its run was up. A cold launch turned into a hot finish, and one of the game’s most unique features was the ability to see an enemy’s health bar. It wasn’t for everyone, but it was a nice quality of life feature for players who liked the pop-up in their HUD.
It wasn’t in the Modern Warfare 2 reboot, which followed, and hasn’t been seen since 2020—until now in Black Ops 7.
Visible Health Bars Likely For Black Ops 7 Beta

Matt Scronce is Treyarch’s design director and has been with the company for 15 years. He oversaw the implementation of health bars in Black Ops Cold War. It makes us somewhat curious as to why it didn’t make the cut in Black Ops 6, but this won’t be the case for Black Ops 7.
The director was asked a simple question on X: “Matt, health bars?” Many people liked the addition, and Matt had an encouraging reply for fans desperate to see it return:
“We’re currently testing health bars in MP and hope to have them in the beta along with a setting to disable. Looking forward to feedback on them!”
This tells us A) It’s being tested, B) It’s going to be in the Black Ops 7 beta, and C) Health Bars are likely to be in the full game.
