Surgent Studios, the team behind 2024’s Tales of Kenzera: Zau, has revealed the imminent release date for their all-new psychological horror game, Dead Take. It’s coming much sooner than you think, launching exclusively on PC.
As one of the first titles to be published by Pocketpair’s new label, Dead Take emerges at a poignant time, especially considering the game’s subject matter. In a statement, Surgent Studios’ Abubakar Salim revealed it has been a chance for the actors involved to ‘bleed out’ the darkness they’ve experienced in the industry.
Dead Take is Coming Very Soon
Dead Take will be released on July 31, exclusively on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. From Surgent Studios and Pocketpair Publishing comes this all-new and radical horror title, backed by some of the finest actors in the business.
Here’s a short blurb about Dead Take:
Find your missing friend. Uncover the secrets within. Brave a luxurious and haunting mansion in Dead Take, a first-person psychological horror crafted by Surgent Studios.
Night falls and he still won’t pick up the phone. You arrive at the mansion: the last place he went. It’s oddly quiet for the site of a glamorous party the night before. Your invite must have gotten lost in the mail. In any case, you make your way inside to find your friend.
Actors have to look out for each other in this industry.
This horror is a world away from Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Surgent’s first game that saw success in 2024 and went on to win awards.
It was revealed, along with the Dead Take release date, that the team taking part in the project is hugely prestigious and prolific, with the following actors having lent their talents to the game:
- Neil Newbon
- Ben Starr
- Jane Perry
- Alanah Pearce
- Laura Bailey
- Matthew Mercer
- Sam Lake
- Travis Willingham
- CDawgVA
Speaking on the project, Abubakar Salim, the creative director on Dead Take, explained:
Dead Take is about actors. So we needed actors who’ve lived it. It’s a game about the high of ambition and the rot underneath it. The lies we tell ourselves to get in the spotlight, and the monsters we become to stay there. Everyone in this cast has felt that pressure. This was a chance to bleed it out.
