Team Jade and TiMi have revealed an unlikely event that is set to bring Delta Force into the esports scene. The Delta Force Invitational, a $500,000 tournament, is set to take place in China in September, with 1000 teams stepping up to the plate.
This monumental undertaking marks the first official Delta Force competition, and it comes just after the Delta Force console release date was announced as August 19.
The event has been dubbed ‘the ultimate esports tournament’.
Delta Force: From Zero to Hero
In a post on social media, the Delta Force teams at TiMi and Team Jade unveiled the grand esports event:
Delta Force Invitational (#DFI), the ultimate esports tournament, is about to take place in China this September! 🏆What makes DFI special? 🗺️True Global Tournament: 1000+ teams from 8 regions vying for 1 Championship 💰High Stakes, High Rewards: $500,000 total prize pool
Between July 14 – 27, teams can register for their place in the qualifiers. Don’t ask me how that makes it an invitational, though. Typically, teams competing in an invitational are, you know, invited. I can only assume it’s a mix of qualifying and invited teams, but that hasn’t been established.
The regions that can register to compete in the Delta Force Invitational have been outlined as:
- Japan
- Korea
- North America
- Europe
It was stressed that you need to be at least 18 years old to compete and you cannot be a ‘traveler or student’.
The Delta Force Invitational prize pool of $500,000 will be broken down as follows:
DFI Open Qualifiers Finals:
- 1st Place: $4,000
- 2nd Place: $3,000
- 3rd Place: $1,000
- 4th – 6th Place: $500
- 7th – 12th Place: $100
DFI Final:
- Champion: $150,000
- 2nd Place: $80,000
- 3rd Place: $50,000
- 4th – 6th Place: $30,000
- 7th – 12th Place: $20,000
The competitive format is yet to be outlined, but with registration having only just started, there’s still time.
