Managing a career in College Football 26 is a difficult challenge to undertake, but the Redshirt feature makes it easier to plan for the future by securing another year with the squad.
In College Football 26, Redshirting a player allows them to remain with the team for an extra year in the collegiate programme, and it’s a very handy tool in Dynasty mode for long-term planning. However, it also appears in other modes, too.
For everything you need to know about Redshirting, check out our guide below for details on the feature in both Dynasty and Road to Glory modes.
How to Redshirt Players in College Football 26 Dynasty Mode

Redshirting players in College Football 26 Dynasty Mode is done using the specific Redshirt menu, making it easy to redshirt several players at once.
Follow these steps to select players to Redshirt:
- In your Dynasty save, navigate to the “Team” tab.
- Select the “Redshirts” option.
- Find the player you want to Redshirt and activate it.
- A red shirt will appear to the left of the player’s name, indicating they have been Redshirted.
- If a player is greyed out, they have already been Redshirted and are not available, or do not meet the other requirements.
Remember, there are specific requirements for Redshirting players, which may make some players ineligible. Redshirting is only available once per player, and they must have played in four games or fewer. Helpfully, though, Freshman players who fit this requirement will be automatically Redshirted.
Be careful when Redshirting players, however, as it may affect their happiness in the squad. Players who value playing time extremely highly, for example, may choose to enter the Transfer Portal.
For that reason, you should only Redshirt players you know you won’t use in the season, or at the end of a season if they haven’t featured in more than four games.
Can You Redshirt in College Football 26 Road to Glory?
If you’re a Freshman in Road to Glory and haven’t featured in more than four games, you will automatically be Redshirted at the end of the season.
As this mode is an experience where you don’t have full control over everything in the team, with decisions down to your head coach, there is no way to manually Redshirt in Road to Glory.
If you’re keen to make sure you are given a Redshirt and can have an extra year in the collegiate system, make sure you’re joining a team where you know you won’t be a starter or even a second-string. Instead, find a programme where you will start off as a bench player.
The best way to ensure you make this choice is to go through the High School experience in the mode, which allows you to see exactly what each college thinks of you. Without doing this, it can be a stab in the dark to find a programme where you will begin as a squad player, unless you go with the obvious big guns.
