NBA 2K26 Platforms And Release Date Reportedly Confirmed

Ahead of an official announcement, an exclusive story reportedly revealed the NBA 2K26 platforms and release date.

It’s an exciting time to be a basketball and gaming fan. There hasn’t been an NCAA Basketball game since 209, but EA recently announced a revival for the franchise. However, reports suggest that it won’t launch until the 2028-2029 season.

2K also joined in on the fun and teased a potential rival college basketball game to EA, but that has not been officially confirmed. Meanwhile, the latest 2K NBA installment is set to arrive in the fall. The development team hasn’t officially revealed any details about the upcoming game, but a report helped paint a clearer picture.

Dealabs Magazine reported, “We can confirm that NBA 2K26 will officially be released on Friday, September 5, 2025. The game is still being developed by Visual Concepts, a subsidiary of 2K Games.”

It was also reported that a fully optimized version of the game, specifically designed for the Nintendo Switch 2, will be released, aligning with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions. Previously, 2K25 wasn’t optimized for the Switch, and it performed closer to the last-gen version.

That being said, the enhancements come at a price, as it was reported that NBA 2K26 is priced at $69.99 for the Nintendo Switch 2. The original Nintendo Switch version is priced at $59.99, as there are no optimizations.

The listing also revealed that NBA 2K26 will not be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, making it the first 2K game to skip support for last-gen consoles.
